It takes the lifetime work of thousands of bees to make a single pound of beeswax.
A hive has to eat six to eight pounds of honey to produce one pound of wax, built flake by flake — roughly half a million of them, each smaller than a grain of rice. That’s what’s burning in a Honeyboy candle. We don’t take it lightly.
Honeyboy began with my own hives. I’ve been keeping bees since 2018 — first in Wisconsin, then Chicago, and soon New York and Rhode Island. Every candle is made with my wax and the wax of beekeepers I know and trust, from apiaries in Illinois, New York, and across New England.
That matters, because honey and beeswax are among the most adulterated natural products in the world. “Pure” beeswax is routinely cut with paraffin and synthetic fillers long before it ever reaches a candle — and the only way to guarantee the real thing is to know exactly where it came from. We do. Down to the hive.
Honeybees are in decline around the world. We won’t pretend a candle fixes that. But every Honeyboy candle funds the people doing the real work of keeping bees alive — and turns what their hives create into the cleanest, healthiest candle you can burn.
